On Trip Preparations

I've known about the upcoming trip (we leave in 2 days) for months now. Tutoring sessions ended last month and I've had 2 full weeks of no Xavier under foot while I've been home with plans to get the house organized and cleaned before we leave.

And I have very wisely used that time to read copious amounts of fantasy (romantasy?).* Repeatedly. I now have 2 days to convince myself and the 8 year old to pick up his crap so I can clean the floors and maybe our pet sitter won't worry that we were actually kidnapped by some sort of chaos mafia.

I'm quickly approaching test zen. This is what I called the feeling of acceptance that I know what I know and I'm not going to know anymore before the test by trying to cram or study any further. My house will be as clean and organized as it is when the time arrives and it will just be as it is. As long as the dishes get cleaned, litter boxes scooped,  and the garbage and composts taken outside, we should be,  um, not horrible, even if it does look like no adults could possibly live in this house.

Not gonna lie; I'm very anxious about the upcoming trip. 3 weeks with 2 extroverts and no privacy with a good few days in a wineless country where I have no hope of understanding the language is making me antsy. But,  the countdown to Versailles has begun. 16 days until I get to bask in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

* I've read in the last 2 weeks:
Fourth Wing (x2)
Iron Flame (x3)
Heartless Hunter
Five Broken Blades
